In 1886, Clara Parsons Bourland galvanized 24 women to join her in forming the Peoria Women’s Club. The Club changed the meaning of public life for women in the city. It provided educational and cultural programs for members and guests, and its members developed implementable solutions to city problems.
Since its founding in 1886, the Peoria Women's Club has been a meeting place for women interested in cultural enrichment, current events, and fellowship. The Club continues to promote education, literature, science and art by bringing speakers and programs to the clubhouse every week during the season. Members and guests are welcome.
